As of Thursday, August 21, The 2014 Damascus Fresh & Local Market will be located at the
Damascus Centennial Park located at 20110 SE Hwy 212, in downtown Damascus, OR, behind the
Fire Station and across the road from Safeway. A special thank you to the Damascus Civic Club for
donating the use of this desirable location to the Market.
The Damascus Fresh & Local Market operates every Thursday through September 25, 2014
between the hours of 3:00—7:00 pm. And, it accepts SNAP and Debit cards. For the third
consecutive year, under the auspices of Community Matters (The Committee for the Future of
Damascus), community members have dedicated their time and energy towards the realization of a
market that focuses on fresh, locally grown foods, unique local businesses and enterprises,
entertainment, and community education opportunities.
There are still opportunities for vendors to participate in the 2014 Damascus Fresh & Local Market.
Interested vendors are encouraged to visit their website at http://www.damascusfreshandlocalmarket.org
and click on the “Vendor Information Link”. There are also opportunities for volunteers—the more
the merrier! For more information, email the market at firstname.lastname@example.org,
visit their website, or Facebook Page.
A welcome addition to the Damascus community’s farm stands and businesses, the Damascus
Fresh & Local Market is a community gathering place that features fresh produce and prepared food
vendors, plants, crafts, and entertainment. We also support new farm products vendors and have
cooking and food preservation demonstrations courtesy of OSU Extension Service and others. In
addition to these opportunities, there are also a booth that features free craft opportunities for children
and a central gathering place where attendees can chat with each other and/or meet new neighbors and friends as they enjoy the freshly made delights offered by the various booths.
Each market day will also have entertainment featuring the talented musicians and artisans that reside in and/or around the Damascus community.
Events This Week:
Kid’s Education Booth – Snakes & Lizards will be the main event of the day – Hosted by Lewis & Clark Montessori Charter School.
Food Demo Booth – OSU Extension will once again be on hand to teach us about Quick Veggie Pickling. They will have veggies and jars so that participants can take on home with them.
Entertainment – Swingali will be here to share their lovely music with us!
We Cannot Wait to See You There!
